March 19, 2020
As we approach the current situation which is dealing with the health and safety of our congregation, our goal is to be wise as serpents and gentle as doves. God's word teaches us the fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction. (Prov 1:7)
Our desire is to be wise and prudent above all else. The Board of Directors has gathered, prayed and discussed the avenue we proceed down in this time. Our choice is to take this one step at a time and allow God to direct our steps. Our first step was in determining what we do for this coming Sunday (Mar 22nd). We are asking that the congregation stay home this Sunday spending time with family and taking time to seek the Lord. I will be preparing and delivering a message that will be posted on here on our site, just click on the "Listen" tab at the top of the Home Page. This will be posted as early as possible on Sunday.
We encourage everyone to spend time with the Lord just as you would if you were seated in the sanctuary. The message will come from the series that we have already begun in Nehemiah. Beginning this week in Chapter 4 we will examine the truths of standing against opposition and being prayerful people. Prayer is our greatest weapon in these times. Spending time in God's word fundamentally draws us closer to God. As we draw closer to God through His word we become more like Jesus.
Our goal is to minister peace and hope in order to remove anxiety and fear. We must be confident that God is indeed in control. Our desire also is that we are led by the Spirit. For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are the sons' of God. For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out "Abba Father". (Rom 8:14-15) And we know that all things work together for good for those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. (Rom 8:28)
In light of these temporary changes, please know and understand that Penny and I are available to answer any of your questions or provide encouragement and Godly counsel through these times. We will be maintaining regular office hours at the church (Wed -thru Sun) and I would also encourage you to reach out as brothers and sisters to one another. We are all ministers of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, lets use this time to draw closer together, not further apart.
We will be providing updates daily if necessary, so no one feels lost or abandoned in all of this. God promised that He would not leave us nor forsake us. That's a promise we can count on!
Blessings to you all, in His Love & Service,
Pastor Gary & Penny
